Fairy number 2

So all those intentions went with the wind ... one fairy a day ? Hmmm well i should have checked with life first, that was just a bit too optimistic. I shall have to do catch up with the fairies as i go.
I have had the most busy weekend and found it impossible to get any time to play until today and even today has been hectic but i have spent the last two hours finishing my book fairy which is a collage on encaustic background.

Lavender in my art room

Today i cut the lavender in the garden and tied to dry a bunch. I have hung it up in my art room as its probably the best place for it. My art room by the way is actually a cupboard .. a largish one but still just a cupboard :) so hardly a room but as we only have a small one bedroom flat, i tend to call it a room ... well i sit in there ..

Something a little different

Art is my usual contribution to this blog but I also write a little, although it has been a long while since I did any writing at all. I have a few poems that were published around 5 years ago and keep being drawn to the art of writing more and more yet my muse is not strong enough yet to put pen to paper. Anyway I just thought it would make a change to share a poem or two in between my art work here at my Arty retreat. I very much hope you all won't mind me sharing them.

Beckoning Memories

Yesterday called tonight, a voice born on the breeze,
as it swept across the prairie under the cherry wine sky.
Oh how it hurt her heart with its beckoning call,
conjuring up thoughts that were buried in the day.

Standing at the fence watching a pink sun sink low,
her bare feet itched to pursue it beyond the horizon.
Liberty bound with the wind aiding her escape,
towards yesterday,tomorrow fading with each step.

A sound awakened her, the sharp needful call of her present,
dispersing the magic and returning to her, a weary spirit.
She turned slowly,relinquishing dreams that did not belong,
and yesterdays that were long gone.

As the sun bid farewell, Yesterday said goodbye

Catching Up

I am trying to keep up in between everything and hope to get around to all my friends blogs as i get the time. I hate missing a thing lol but guess its just too hard to see everything when you dont get much time on pc.
I have a couple of my makes to show you that i havent shown before so thought i would share today. Hope you like them

Angel watcher collage on stampbord














The beautiful notebook and slide mounts and images were a gift from the lovely Lottie :) Lottie's art work on one of the slide mounts really captured my heart and after seeing it and commenting Lottie shares some of the few she had left with me plus this gorgeous altered notebook See Lotties slide work here
I have given this a go and below is my first altered slide mount. ( it didnt photograph well and what looks like yellow is actually gold lol - Thanks again Lottie :)

Experimenting Again - Lemon Burning

Lemon burning technique has been used to burn the edges around the torn stamped paper before i mounted onto inked background on the first atc and distressed.

The second atc has also been burned directly on a printed piece of card then distressed by sanding.

The third atc is just an extra one i made today using book text and images plus embossing

It was lovely to play today as have spent the first full day at home for a while. I enjoyed my usual experimenting :=)

Flutterby & Lighthouse

An atc that i made usinggolds, greens and copper paints on textured card for the background and vintage butterfly stamps and inks and pens for butterfly and a little foam to lift the wings slightly














The second one is a stencilled Lighthouse that i have made using polyfiller ( yep thats right ) Me and my whacky experiments hehehe. I used the polyfiller with paints and inks and then sealed to stop it from crumbling. I liked the 3d effect it gave

Over at Bigartadventure the theme is a lovely one 'Milagros hearts' Check it out for yourself.
This is one i made. I enjoyed the challenge
Mine is set on stampbord that has been alcohol inked and embossed and the heart has a childs face stamped in Stazon

Snakeskin atc

I got some fabulous snakeskin paper that was just begging for a little alcohol ink. So off i went with that and that only in mind then decided and atc was in order and from there this one was born ... that is sometimes how i create, just with one colour or material and then it just goes from there. Are you all like that too ?

Another page in my journal. Not much else done I am afraid as i have been having too much fun with my grandson Ethan who stayed with us last night ... Oh how brilliant are 7 year olds ?? Love this lil boy to bits !!!

For this weeks challenge at Mixed Media Monday . I decided to add these. I have had so much fun in 2008 with mixing inks,paints & pens with stamps sometimes too. These are two mini stampbords likely to end up as card embellishments or fridge magnets

Eraser and pastel accident

Its been a crazy last week and had my sons 30th birthday plus a charity run with santa and his sleigh. Today there were no demands on me and i was able to finish these two things i have been working on.
One is just a basic pastel scene of a walker on a beach
the other is a technique i found by playing with the eraser on my pencil while deciding what to do with the colourful pastel background i had made. I thought it would be fun to use the eraser on the pen as my drawing tool and this guy was created

Gothic Arch Book

I am quite taken with the gothic arch shapes and decided to make one myself, then another and another etc and decided to make them into a book in the end. The front cover is the fairy arch and shows the ribbon and bead ties and the rest are the inner pages which are decorated on both sides so in all there are ten pages in total. I have enjoyed this project very much and may do more books or maybe some arches in frames. Only time will tell ....
