Made a card

Its not often i do, but decided to make a card using collage and distressing, there are actually lots of different techniques and mediums used on this one lol but you wouldnt know it as the small piece in the middle with the lady on is where most of them are :)

Texture and colour play

 A few people have asked for a tutorial on how to achieve the texture and colour pieces i make. To be honest, i vary it a lot but here is how i made the latest one

I  started with a piece of card which i added some stick on paper ribbon down the side the colours dont matter. I then wanted to get some texture and in this case i used woodware fluffy stuff (again the colour doesnt matter much as it will be covered later. I spread the fluffy stuff in random patterns on the card then used a heat gun to dry and fluffy it up as the heat makes it go all puffy and bubbly.

Next i wanted colour. You can use acrylics,inks etc for colouring. I used silver ink which i applied with a paintbrush. (wash the paintbrush immediately after using it )

When dry you can add another ink if you wish or many. I used another pearly ink in blue and then i used some adirondack alcohol ink in wild plum. i applies some in spots and some with the application tool and felt pad.

This was how it turned out (click on pic to see more detail ) but i sometimes use acrylic paint instead of inks to colour. I just love experimenting

Saturday workout - Shadowbox

This one is based on a theme of those hazy summer days when you go off with your partner for a country break
'Weekend Retreat'
The small part at the forefront is a miniature painting i did on a piece of stampbord.
The mini wooden sign post i have hung on to, knowing one day it would be used.

This one is an encaustic work which i did in gold and silver wax and added daisies

Oriental Encaustic

This is one i made on encaustic background. It was as often mine are, an experiment and an adventure. Could i combine the wax and alcohol inks on a background ? Could i use stazon ink on the wax and would it work ? How would i make an image stick to wax ?

Well .... I worked the pattern in wax then scraped my pattern. I then dabbed with alcohol ink and wiped which gave the lilac colour. Then i scraped more to give the white.
I then stamped the curly leaves in purple stazon. It dried and stayed.
Lastly how to stick my lovely oriental lady? ... Simple. I just heated the wax again with a heat gun and immediately pressed the image down into it and left to dry.

I have only made one piece today and that was for the red and black theme at Theme thursday
I have had a colourful week hehe

The Magic of wings

A card made especially for The challenge over at Charisma Cardz
Its a celebration of winged things really with a little magic of bubbles and stardust. I hope you like it, i had fun making it.

Todays collage atc is for someone special, i wont say who but it was lovely to make this one.

The theme over at Theme Thursday is people in hats. I had a little time to myself this evening so i altered a domino for this one.

French Marmalade

Altered Organiser

Today was lovely I met Jude for the first time after chatting on Trimcraft and on Blogs. Jude is such a lovely lady and she brought her gorgeous girls and her hubby with her it was lovely to meet them all. Jude used to live here in town and was visiting her family so we got chance to have a cuppa and a good old chat and look what she brought me ... Thanks Jude xxxxxxxx


















I just couldn't resist this little organiser in the charity shop. It was begging to be collaged so i bought it and have had a play. The theme is a celebration of we females - 'SHE' Girlhood to womanhood. I haven't finished quite as i would like to seal it all and also to decorate the inside covers on the little books. I think it will make a great gift so I shall do that when it is finished.
Here it is so far .. might need the sunglasses again hehe

Oh I have to tell you ...................... I came back to life today after being so poorly lol and was immediately cheered up by Dawn nominating me for this gorgeous Marieantoinette award ... How gorgeous is this !!! ... Of course i do need to pass it on yet but need time to catch up in blogging land and my website first so will do that later

Snakeskin atc

I got some fabulous snakeskin paper that was just begging for a little alcohol ink. So off i went with that and that only in mind then decided and atc was in order and from there this one was born ... that is sometimes how i create, just with one colour or material and then it just goes from there. Are you all like that too ?

For this weeks challenge at Mixed Media Monday . I decided to add these. I have had so much fun in 2008 with mixing inks,paints & pens with stamps sometimes too. These are two mini stampbords likely to end up as card embellishments or fridge magnets

Over at arty girlz the challenge is 'for the home' and this is my attempt - A fridge magnet. This is an art piece on stampbord and i called it 'mixed emotions' based on the idea that nothing is entirely black and white. This is a mixed media piece and has two round magnets secured to the back. Already has a home ... yep my fridge hehehe

New stash play around

Just had to try out some new things i bought today.
This is the result.
I used stampbord square
clear butterfly stamp
black stazon
Pentel Hybrid white gel pen
Adirondack alcohol inks - stream,wild plum and pearl mixative + blending solution
memory foil tape


The memory tape wasn't the best but it was my first time using it so not worried , will just need practice

Elvis atc using alcohol inks, embossing pen, stamp, pens and embossing powder. Enjoyed doodling the most :)

Flappin

Twenties style inspired this winged atc lady. I called this one 'Flappin' Mainly done with two different patterns made from food colourings (see my tutorial on junes crafty tips )

Also I just recieved this wonderful award from Maxine
