Texture and colour play

 A few people have asked for a tutorial on how to achieve the texture and colour pieces i make. To be honest, i vary it a lot but here is how i made the latest one

I  started with a piece of card which i added some stick on paper ribbon down the side the colours dont matter. I then wanted to get some texture and in this case i used woodware fluffy stuff (again the colour doesnt matter much as it will be covered later. I spread the fluffy stuff in random patterns on the card then used a heat gun to dry and fluffy it up as the heat makes it go all puffy and bubbly.

Next i wanted colour. You can use acrylics,inks etc for colouring. I used silver ink which i applied with a paintbrush. (wash the paintbrush immediately after using it )

When dry you can add another ink if you wish or many. I used another pearly ink in blue and then i used some adirondack alcohol ink in wild plum. i applies some in spots and some with the application tool and felt pad.

This was how it turned out (click on pic to see more detail ) but i sometimes use acrylic paint instead of inks to colour. I just love experimenting

Madness and chaos

Its been chaotic in my world but i am sure you are all the same. Also lots more docs and hospital stuff been going on. On a brighter note its nearly christmas and i had a lovely lovely visit from Jude and her family yesterday as she is staying with her dad in our home town so its been good to see them all and Jude is so lovely she brought me some gorgeous goodies which i will share with you all when i get the pics done. I had chance to make a couple more twinchies and thats about it craftwise and i just long for some real craft time now lol and also for some blogging time ... i promise to try and visit everyone more soon as the hols are over but in the meantime have a HAPPY CHRISTMAS  !!! everyone

Back Online

It has been such an eye opener to not have my pc for a week lol. I got lots of art done, lots of other stuff and actually watched some tv for a change lol. Anyway i am back for a while anyway as the pc still needs to go off after christmas for a new sound thingy doing ( yeah i am so techy am i not?/ lol !!! )

Soooo i have just reinstalled my camera viewing stuff ( my printer hehe ) and here are some of the things i have been doing while not here.

My new makeover and an atc

Have you noticed my complete makeover ??? what do you think ? I absolutely love how it looks and it is all thanks to my lovely friend and fellow blogger  Susie Jefferson who i  might also add it a very talented lady too. Susie bless her made this for me as a seasonal gift and used my own artwork on the banner so it is very personal and very beautiful .... thanks susie  !!!!!!! Do pop over and see Susies blogs as she is one mega talented lady !!!

DOLL ATC
Textures paints inks and dolls for a combination that reveals one of my dreams from childhood where i used to see the dolls on my bedroom wallpaper come alive. It scared me so i guess it was a nightmare really
anyway here it an atc using acrylics, fluffy stuff, pearly inks ,ink,and images the texture in the background is made using the fluffy stuff and heating with a heat gun.

Snow window

For the lots to do challenge  i made this atc as the challenge is snow !! It was fun to make and thanks ladies for the challenge

new stamps by flissy

Today my new stamps came from hobby art. I really do not need any more stamps but i also couldnt resist these gorgeous and unusual designed rubber stamps and they were also designed by my good friend Fliss You must pop over and check them out you can see at her blog. Hobby art were clever to snap up this design.
Anyway i got stuck right in and made a card this evening as i have been unable to craft all week really. I enjoyed it and dont those flowers look fab ? unfortunately the colour looks not as nice because of the available light but i know you will get the idea

Hey i am in green mode

Art seems to come to me in colours, i dont think, i dont plan it just decides and my fingers go into auto choose mode when it comes to colours. I created two things today one is an inchie for the lots to do challenge  and one is an atc just for fun. Now all i had in mind when i entered my craft room was to make an inchie ... nothing else and no plans ... it decided GREEN ... then without thinking, i decided to make an atc and was not ever aware until i had almost finished that i had used two more shades of GREEN ... strange huh ? you ever notice yourself doing that ?

Silver ,Blue & Beeswax - Time gone by

After much inspiration by my friend Hilda, (pop by and see what amazing things hilda makes ) I have been moved to produce only my second or third (cant remember now lol ) beeswax collage. This on i made in response to the challenge at Created By Hand  which was a theme of 'time gone by'

 Well since i was in creative mode i thought i would finish the day with an atc i made. This is my fave make of the day as its more ... me ? you think ?
any way its just my little tribute to art atc.Its called 'Eye See'  We each see things with different sets of eyes and interpret what we see in our own creative way.

 wow two pieces in two days ??? that is some going for me lol. I have made this one again with images from Dezinaworld blog white christmas sheet ( well it was printed already so i have lots more to go ) I added a little red to this one and made a greeting card which i think can be used for anything. My camera is at my sons house so this is scanned and i never think scanning does things justice. anyway here it is

Christmas on the horizon

 Well in the last week  i have been dealing with lots of appointments and then my hubby came down with the swine flu so its been another tough week. But as my mother would say 'these things are sent to try us'
Christmas is indeed on the horizon and i have been launching my christmas sets in gold and white so far over at Dezinaworld blog
This 4 x 4 is one i made using one of the images from the white christmas set and some stamping and white/sparkle embossing. I had lots of fun and am quite pleased with the result as i have not been making anything much lately on the physical side of art.

One Song

Thanks to Chris I had a chance to play with the wonderful material of cork. This is a kind of cork sheet and i cut to atc size and stamped and embossed and brayered plus added touches of white gel pen and some small gems.
It is designed to go with a poem i wrote in 2006 called :

One song rises from within the morning forest

A beautiful solo aria carried upon the breeze

Sweet clear notes, like tiny bells beneath the rain

call out her joy of another painted dawn.

Soon her voice is answered by another timid soul

joining her in gleeful celebration of nature's gifting.

Quiter creatures sigh their own softness of sound

creating a cantata as the love of a new day is born

One voice rises from withing the morning forest

Just one song bursting with joy brings a whole choir of hope.

Lots to do - brights

I made this for the lots to do challenge which is brights ... i began by making the wings which are bright but then the rest of the colouring bacame more subtle so i whitened it a bit more for a brighter look ... lol hope it fits

Copper butterfly on pink tinted texture - m-m-m

I made this textured copper butterfly piece today using mixed media textures and colourings. Including tissue,copper pieces,pva,textured bead gel, pink and gold mica,pens,paints & copper powder. The butterfly was first stamped then coloured and curled slightly and then mounted with double sided tape. The texture is better seen if you click the piccy

chipboard shape collage

This is a chipboard shape that i   painted in acrylic and collaged with many elements and inked and then finished in glaze plus i added a beaded tail detail made using crystal and pearl beads plus a handmade bead i made ages ago - The background is acrylic and crackle glaze plus stamped in red stazon. I hope everyone is well and had a good weekend
